Dogsledding
Here we are learning about the parts of the sled, harnessing the dogs and strapping them onto the sled.
Dogs harnessed and ready.
Getting ready to hop on.
Bringing the dogs back.
Dogs eager to get going!
Happy! Happy!
Mom believes it's important to go out and do things like dogsledding because it's when you are doing things like this that you learn about your family and you understand their lives better. You learn things because you are doing them and the people who are with you have their memories triggered by the things they are seeing or feeling, like the weather or an old trail they took or memories of the person who first took them out and the stories that person told them.

Our great-grandparents and granny used dog teams when they lived far north of us and about 20 miles south of us long ago. We learned that our great grandmother took a dog team by herself with her sick sister from Attawapiskat to Moose Factory when she was 12 years old. Her sister died in Moose Factory and she had to deal with that here. Our granny used to help her father get wood using a dog team.

The dogs love pulling the sled. It`s hard to get them to stop. Riding along is very peaceful and quiet. We love dogsledding. These are pictures of our very first time out.
Dogs being brought out of
their kennel area.
Peaceful ride.
Yay!!
Proud of herself.
Thank you so much to Kevin & Norma Moore (who have beautiful family dogsledding stories).
